Full Highlights
A full highlight involves highlighting hair in every section of your head. This could be slightly lightening all of your hair or for something more dramatic, going from brunette to blonde.

Partial Highlights
Partial highlights are those women you see who have some color placed around the face for a brightening or framing effect. Some may call them a “half head of highlights.” They will have most of their natural color peeking through from the back and around the nape of the neck.

Balayage
In this hair color technique, highlights are hand-painted on the surface of random sections of hair. Dye/lightener or both is usually painted on, starting midshaft and becoming denser as it moves down the section of hair to the ends.

Color correction may need to be done in many different scenarios including uneven color, brass, or banding. If you're dealing with ashy-turned-brassy strands, uneven color regrowth, or want to make a drastic change from dark to light hair, you will probably need a color correction.
